About the Artist

Hello! I’m Zachary, a current service member with a deep passion for creativity. Military life is often hurry up and wait, and in those tormenting moments of boredom, I drift to my imagination. There, I find myself depicting scenes of great deeds, desperate tragedies, and the quiet hope of accomplishment. My artistic inspiration draws from the gothic horror of Edgar Allan Poe, the mythic grandeur of J.R.R. Tolkien, and above all, the emotional intensity and tragedy woven by Kentaro Miura, whose work profoundly shapes my style and storytelling.

I began drawing after a conversation with a fellow student during my Navy Corpsman A-School training. I told him about my grand ideas — the worlds I wanted to build, the stories I hoped to tell, and why I believed they could matter. When I mentioned that I dreamed of seeing my stories one day animated, he asked, “Do you even know how to draw?”

I didn’t.

But from that day forward, I took on the daunting task of learning from scratch. Persistence paired with frustration and soon a decade had passed. Then, while drawing on a flight, a stewardess stopped by my seat and asked if I was a professional artist. In that brief moment, I realized I had achieved the one thing I’d been chasing for over twelve years — the feeling that I’d finally reached the edge of becoming what I had always dreamed to be.
